Univesitario vs Binacional match preview: Step up and win

by J.P. Devetori

Universitario heads to Juliaca for a match vs Binacional on matchday 7 at 7pm ET (6pm Peru time). The kickoff time got moved from 4 to 6pm Peru time due to travel issues from Universitario. This match is important for everyone who travelled today for many reasons.

The biggest reason why this match is important for the “U” today is the absence of Jose Carvallo, Aldo Corzo, and Alex Valera due to international duty. Without them, the team always struggle to win which is nerve-wracking for all of us coming into today. We must win in order to remain in the race to win Fase 1. We are 5 points behind the top-two teams of Fase 1, Alianza Atletico and Municipal and we have to rely on us winning today and Municipal to lose just to be closer to the top (Alianza Atletico is off this week). It’s also important that we win today heading into international break to boost team morale and confidence.

Objectives to win today is simple: just play smart and control possession. We’ve been lacking that so much during the last match vs Cienciano and we ended up with a tie. We cannot let that happen today, especially against a weak team like Binacional. Gutierrez has shown careless tactical decisions from the last match and he must screw this match today. Also everyone like Diego Romero, Rafael Guarderas, and Roberto Villamarin must step up and be a hero today in any way possible. It’s their time to shine since we are missing our key stars.

Kickoff is at 7pm ET (6pm Peru time) at Juliaca. There will be a post-match analysis but there will be no live match broadcast.
