Universitario vs Barcelona SC Copa Libertadores leg 2 match preview: GO HARD OR GO HOME

by J.P. Devetori

Universitario hosts the 2nd leg match in the historical Estadio Nacional vs Barcelona SC. With a sold out Crema crowd in the Nacional, the “U” heads into this match hungry for vengeance after a disappointing 0-2 loss away at Guayaquil, Ecuador. It’s Go Hard or Go Home for the “U” in the 2022 Copa Libertadores. The 0-2 hurdle is a big one to jump over but anything is possible with a hungry desire.

The “U” needs to enter this match without any butterflies in their stomachs. Yes they are under pressure to advance since their down 0-2. But if they attack and apply pressure on Barcelona SC by fighting hard on 1v1 balls, capitalize on Barcelona errors as well as dominating possession in the first half, then the “U” would have many different chances to score before halftime. The defense must not allow any goals at all in this match in order to build a smooth map for the “U” to just draw the aggregate at 2 or win by a goal or two. The fans will also become a factor in this match too due to being the best fans of Peru.

Another thing to point out in this match tonight is the key absences for both clubs. The “U” is without Alberto ‘Chiquitin’ Quintero due to card suspension while Barcelona SC veteran Damian Diaz is also serving a card suspension. No notable injuries for the “U” now since Hernan Novick is finally back to make his 2022 year debut for the cremas.

Kickoff will be at 7:30pm and post match recap will be posted following the match. Y DALE U!
