Binacional vs Universitario match recap: A thrilling victory to make it 4 in a row

Universitario extends their win streak to 4 matches in what was a thrilling back and forth match vs Binacional. Both clubs came into this match hungry for a win with the U needing the 3 points to qualify for the 2022 Copa Libertadores while Binacional needing the 3 points to stay away from relegation.

The U had very limited talent heading into this match with the absences of Federico Alonso, Enzo Guttierrez, Alberto ‘Chiquitin’ Quintero, and Aldo Corzo made this match pretty difficult to get 3 points. The first half showed how difficult it was for the U, they displayed troublesome turnovers that made Jose Carvallo work like crazy. The sloppy and unorganized playing made Binacional dominate possession throughout the first half. The U got their act together in the second and Alex Valera sneaked a goal to make it 1-0, his 2nd straight match with a goal. The U made a few more scoring opportunities but came close to make 2-0. Binacional also sneaked a goal to make it 1-1 by their top scorer Johan Arango. In what looked like when hope was lost, the U were awarded a penalty and Nelinho Quina scored to make it 2-1 during stoppage time.

Universitario survived a slow and sloppy match vs Binacional and got the much needed 3 points to stay in the qualification race for the Copa Libertadores. The returns of ‘Chiquitin’, Enzo, Alonso, and hopefully Corzo will improve and bolster our chances in winning the last 2 matches of the season. Next match will be on Saturday 10/23 vs Cusco FC.
