Alianza Universidad vs Universitario match recap: Hats off to Valera
by J.P. Devetori
Universitario headed into this match with a must win mentality vs Alianza Universidad. Each match is critical since we must fight for a Copa Libertadores appearance. The Cremas got the job done by thrashing A.U. with a 4-0 win with a Alex Valera hat-trick.
All starting XI Universitario players stepped up when needed most. Carvallo didn’t cause a single crucial error, the defense played tough man to man vs the AU offense, midfield and wingers players contributed in the scoring such as Urruti. Valera was the player of the game from start to finish. He struggled the past couple of matches and he stepped up with a steal to score his first goal, a header goal for his second, and a rebound goal to complete his hat-trick. The first goal of the game was scored by a Nelinho Quina penalty after Federico Alonso was fouled in the penalty box.
It was a textbook perfect match for the Cremas. Next match will be against Sport Huancayo on Sunday 9/26 at 3:30 Peru time (4:30 Atlantic, 1:30 Pacific).
