“U” have been deducted 2 points from the Liga1 table

by J.P. Devetori

Universitario were deducted 2 points due to punishment for failing to pay debts on time and one additional point due to being a second offense. The club will appeal the sanctions imposed by the Licensing Commission. Other clubs such as Cienciano, Sport Boys, and Alianza Universidad were sanctioned the same way as the “U” while Universidad San Martín, Cusco, Sport Huancayo, Alianza Atlético, and Deportivo Municipal were only deducted 1 point just for failing to pay debts on time (1st offense).

The obvious question is why clubs still being punished for failing to pay debts after Law 6863 is in effect? President Sagasti has signed the bill into law no too long ago but why are clubs still be sanctioned?

More information on Law 6863 tomorrow. The “U” will play their first match of Fase 2 this afternoon vs Alianza Atletico.
